Recovery Mode Menu Items Explained
This will describe the various Recovery Menu Items and what they generally do Code: M33 Recovery Menu Main Menu Toggle USB Configuration -> Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP Advanced -> CPU Speed -> Plugins -> Registry hacks -> Exit Toggle USB This will activate the USB connection without the need to goto the XMB Configuration This takes you to the firmware settings page..... Code: M33 Recovery Menu Configuration Back Skip Sony logo Hide corrupt icons Game folder homebrew Autorun program at /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP UMD Mode Fake region Free UMD region Hard reset on homebrew Use VSH Menu XMB USB Device Charge BAttery when usb cable plugged Skip Sony Logo This will skip the Sony Comuter Entertainment logo at the startup of the psp Hide Corrupt Icons If you have corrupt icons as a result of installing homebrew, then this will get rid of them (sometimes the corrupt icons cant be deleted or the homebrew wont work, this option safly hides them) Game Folder Homebrew This lets you choose what kernel the GAME folder will be ran under, but since we are on a psp slim, we dont need to bother with this setting Autorun Program This can be used to boot a homebrew at startup of the psp, useful if you messed up a custom theme and want to reflash it, you could place the program into the folder specified and it would run the homebrew UMD Mode This can be changed to choose how ISO files are loaded, using one of the drivers here can let you run an ISO without the need for a UMD in the drive Fake Region If you imported a jap psp and it has lots of menu items that you dont find in the euro version, you can set your psp to the euro region using this setting Free UMD Region This will let your psp load any UMD video from ANY region Hard Reset On Homebrew This will perform a hard reset of your psp when you load homebrew, not quite sure of the significance of this so i just keep it enabled Use VSH Menu This will let you change some of the UMD and Memory stick related Recovery Mode Ffunctions without having to reload the recovery menu, it can be done from the XMB XMD USB Device This can redirect the usb mode to the memory stick, the umd, or the flash memory Charge Battery When USB Cable Plugged This will recharge your slims battery when you plug in the USB cable, you dont have to activate the usb mode to do the recharging, this way you can play games and recharge via usb at the same time Run Program At /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP This is not used anymore in the slim, it used to be known as the recovery folder, but its useless on the slim Advanced Code: M33 Recovery Menu Advanced Back Advanced Configuration -> Toggle USB (Flash0) Toggle USB (Flash1) Toggle USB (Flash2) Toggle USB (Flash3) Format Flash1 and reset settings Advanced Configuration This contains only 2 options, "Plain modules in UMD/ISO" and "Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO" These are disabled by default and are not needed to run your psp for anything else apart from advanced debugging. You dont need to use these settings ever! Toggle USB The toggle USB option in here gives you access to your psp flash memory, unless you really know what your doing you never need to access these flash files, you can brick your psp if you mess about with these files! Format Flash1 And Reset Settings This can be used to reset all your psp settings to factory default, you also need to run this if you have just installed custom firmware for the first time CPU Speed This lets you change the CPU speed in both the XMB and Games, setting the CPU speed higher will make some games run alot smoother, but will drain the battery quicker. Most people believe that increasing the CPU speed is harmful to the psp, this is untrue and overclocking the CPU to 333mhz is now officially supported by sony for the games and has been used by sony for a while in the POPSTATION PSX emulator Plugins Here is where you can activate any plugins you have installed to your memory stick, apps like cfwcheat and cheatdevice need to be turned on in here, but dont use too many at the same time, especially if they do the same things Registry Hacks You have 3 simple options in here, you can activate the WMA and Flash playing capabilitys of the psp without an internet connection and if you imported a psp and the X and O buttons are mixed up, you can swap them here too Exit Restarts the psp Hope this all makes sense for you guys, and hope you had as much fun reading it as my poor little fingers had typing it
